Digestive Disorders and Eating Disorders 2.0 training for dietitians and clinicians

This isn't just a course update. It's a reimagined training.

We took a strong foundational training, integrated seven years of scientific and clinical advances, and transformed how clinicians learn to apply that knowledge.

We've substantially rebuilt and expanded this training to reflect advances in the science, the complexity of ED-GI care, and what clinicians told us they wanted most: more opportunities to translate knowledge into clinical decisions.

Inside the training, you'll learn how to:

  • Think physiologically, not just diagnostically. Build from the foundations of normal digestion to understand how ED behaviors and disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBIs) alter these processes, using the latest Rome V framework and advances in neurogastroenterology.
  • Navigate complex clinical decisions. Work through case studies that demonstrate how we assess competing explanations, prioritize interventions, and make treatment decisions when multiple factors are contributing to a client's symptoms.
  • Strengthen your screening and assessment skills. Learn practical interviewing approaches, with particular attention to ARFID, GI-related food avoidance, and the effects of medications such as GLP-1s.
  • Expand your GI treatment toolkit. Explore evidence-informed assessment and treatment strategies for upper and lower GI conditions, including how to support digestive health while minimizing unnecessary food restriction.
  • Address the complexities beyond GI diagnoses. Explore POTS, EDS, MCAS, body image and embodiment, gut-directed behavioral therapies, and strategies for navigating healthcare barriers and advocating for your clients.
  • Put your learning directly into practice. Use clinician- and client-ready handouts, guided decision-making tools, and clinical resources designed to help you apply what you've learned in your own sessions.

INCLUDED in the course: two one-hour long conversations with leading experts in the field.

Marci and Lauren bring real-world clinical questions and complex ED-GI dilemmas to these conversations, exploring the nuances, challenges, and decision-making processes that shape clinical care.

Dr. Kyle Staller, MD, MPH, is an internationally recognized neurogastroenterologist and ED-GI researcher.
Dr. Meghan Markowski, PT, DPT, WCS, BCB-PMD, is a pelvic floor physical therapist.

Digestive disorders-eating disorders training experts

Here is the list of new content in the training:

We've completely rebuilt our foundational lessons around advances in neurogastroenterology and Rome V. We start with how the digestive system functions as a coordinated whole, then explore how ED behaviors and DGBIs can disrupt and reshape those processes. This layered approach helps you move beyond memorizing symptoms and diagnoses to understanding the mechanisms behind them and applying that knowledge to complex clinical presentations.

  • More clinical cases that show you how we think, not just what we know. This was the #1 request from participants in our original training, and we listened! We've woven case studies throughout to demonstrate how we interpret complicated presentations, weigh competing explanations, prioritize interventions, and navigate uncertainty.
  • New clinician- and client-ready tools that put clinical reasoning into practice. We've developed more guided worksheets, handouts, and decision-making resources that walk you through the thinking behind our clinical approaches. Think of these as a way to bring our clinical reasoning process into your own sessions, long after the training ends.
  • A completely redesigned approach to ED screening and assessment. We've brought ARFID into much sharper focus, expanded practical counseling skills for clinicians without extensive ED training, and added clinical cases that demonstrate how to move from gathering information to making meaningful clinical decisions.
  • Fully updated guidance for upper and lower GI conditions. Lauren has substantially revised these modules to incorporate current evidence and Rome V, with expanded treatment guidance and an extensive clinical resource guide to help you navigate common GI presentations while minimizing unnecessary food restriction.
  • Entirely new content addressing important gaps in ED-GI care. A dedicated lesson on MCAS, POTS, and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, alongside expanded training in body image and embodiment, gut-directed behavioral therapies (including hypnotherapy recordings for client use), clinical communication, and healthcare advocacy.
  • Two exclusive, hour-long conversations with leading GI specialists. Internationally recognized neurogastroenterologist and ED-GI researcher Dr. Kyle Staller and pelvic floor physical therapist Dr. Meghan Markowski join us to explore the real clinical questions and dilemmas that arise in complex ED-GI care, bringing together expertise that is rarely found in one training.
  • A substantially expanded learning experience. Alongside the redesigned lessons, you'll receive new and updated medication and MNT resources, more opportunities for clinical application, and an anticipated 15–18 CPEUs (for Registered Dietitians - and pending CDR approval), compared with 10.5 in the original course.

Loved the Original Digestive Disorders - Eating Disorders Course?

From foundational knowledge to advanced clinical reasoning.

Here's why we think 2.0 deserves a place in your learning library.

When we set out to update this training, we quickly realized that a few new lectures and refreshed references wouldn't do justice to how much the science and clinical landscape have evolved. So we went much further. We revisited our foundational teaching, expanded the clinical applications, incorporated your feedback, and created entirely new resources to help you bring this learning into your work.
